Brilliant poet, writer and Edgar Guest, the first and only Poet Laureate of Michigan, is celebrated on this special Blu-ray, featuring seven rare shorts from the ‘Poetic Gems’ series. These films, produced in 1931 by William Pizor, are beautifully shot and conceived tributes to Guest’s Poetry. Each short features ‘The Radio Ambassador of Song’ Al Shayne as well as being narrated and read by Norman Brokenshire.
This set also features twenty seven rare radio programs, as well as the 1947 2 reel short ‘An Evening with Edgar Guest’ featuring the author himself. It also features still galleries and rare recordings of the author reading his verse.
The rare films come from the Dennis Atkinson Collection, and are digitally restored and preserved at the Library of Congress from rare film elements. BDR disc
